This was one of the first tests I did for Mr.Link when I joined the project at #laika It was so fun animating Zach Galifianakis’ voice. Since this was before any dialogue was recorded and just to start exploring the character, his shapes, and what was working/not working with the rig and puppet, I got to choose the sound clip. #rayaandthelastdragon is the last film I worked on at #disney before heading over to #dreamworks . Here’s the latest trailer which features 0 of my shots. It’s really exciting seeing all the finished look and so many shots I never saw since I left 1/3 of the way into production. Some talented folks over at the mouse house for sure. 🥳
Last class I talked to my students about building a reel. I came up with a fun analogy of selling it with showcasing your muscles. When you’re building your reel, remember that you’re not trying to include everything you have done. You’re selling yourself as an artist to the studios that you can do the the job that they need. Sometimes only one of your shots end up being the shot that gets them to say YES. Remember, quality over quantity! Show them just enough where they want to see more from you!
