Growing up, I moved around the country from London to Bristol to Liverpool and always felt like a part of me was missing. As a kid, this used to transpire in the form of anxiety, aggression and violence without knowing the exact reasons why. I accepted that I would never know that side of my family and used my dad not being a part of my life as a form of empowerment and eventually channelled the anger and aggression in a manner that would see me start to earn me a living and end up competing in @UFC. Now, after meeting the ‘other side’ of my family, the source of my deeper motivation has completely switched and I have new found motivation. I have a dad. My sons have a grandad. I am able to see my ancestral roots and see myself in the faces of others. On Saturday, 30 strong of my Guyanese family were sat in front of the TV in London representing me as I was representing them.
