I spent part of my summer digging into the life and work of Derrick Bell, a pivotal figure in the development of Critical Race Theory, the movement now being maligned and pilloried by conservative media and politicians. Their claims have nothing to do with what Bell thought or wrote but oddly manage to validate the precise points he was making about the persistence of racism.
