Holiday entertaining is officially in full swing. For my latest #GoFinding mission I transformed my kitchen island into an early Thanksgiving “Harvest Moon” tablescape with amazing finds from @homegoods!
Here are 3 tips for creating a great holiday tablescape – especially when you’re working with a small space or don’t have a traditional dining table:
1. Set a Color Scheme
A color scheme is vital for creating a cohesive and eye-catching moment. It also helps you not become overwhelmed when shopping and trying to make magic out of a hodgepodge of pieces. I wanted my design to have a warm, elegant and intimate setting, so I chose copper, pewter, and green with wood and gold accents.
2. Warm It Up
A kitchen island is fantastic – a fantastic slab lol! Create texture and warmth by using fabric and natural elements. I used a tablecloth across the center as my base and instead of hanging a wreath, I used it as a centerpiece with a pillar candle in the center to bring it all together. Wood candle holders and a tower of pampas grass added levels. Colored goblets provide a fun pop of color instead of traditional glasses.
3. Repurpose Your Past Favorite HomeGoods Finds
Shop the store and shop your house! Sometimes the perfect finishing touch you’re missing is sitting on your shelf. I used a decorative glass bowl, a sparkly Halloween pumpkin, and a wooden cutting board from previous shopping trips to complement and complete the setting perfectly.
