To clarify, this decision has nothing to do with fighter pay, nor the current state of my mental health. I am feeling great, and just had one of my best performances. I’ve always felt that for ME, fighting would not be a long term path. The brain can only take so much. I’ve been in some wars and know in my heart I don’t want to put myself in another one. Being hurt in the cage doesn’t deter me, I’ve learned that about myself. So to prevent myself from being hurt 20 years down the road from head trauma now, to prevent my family from potentially witnessing it, I am making the choice now. I can say I did everything on my journey the way I wanted to – with the support of my team, my husband, family, friends, and fans. I fought for InvictaFC, I decided to skip TUF to earn the 145 belt for InvictaFC, fought for and won in the UFC, fought the best of the best, and now I am leaving competition before I am broken, with a life that I certainly wouldn’t have without the journey I’ve been on in MMA.
