Richa Gangopadhyay Instagram – “Love, not time, heals all wounds.” We had a special opportunity to attend the @oregonsymphony yesterday, and discovered @kishi_bashi ‘s incredible musical talents that moved us to literal tears. Indie singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kaoru Ishibashi (@kishi_bashi ) stole our hearts within the opening seconds of the show. I’ve never been so emotionally stirred at a live concert, and also laughed out loud so much (replacing the word “honey body” with “homebody” due to an error in the written program) during one at the same time. Joe and I gave each other the “wow, that was f****ing amazing” look after every.single.piece, and it is no wonder he’s a global talent. Listening to him play violin brought back fond memories of my time as a violinist during my high school orchestra days, but I was most in awe of his vocal talent while serenading us effortlessly while playing. 🎻 Kishi Bashi, thank you for your heart-rendering multimedia presentation and musical exploration sharing about the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII through your piece, Improvisations on EO9066.
