Saiyami Kher Instagram – The perfect company for a rainy day is hot chocolate and warm conversations. And when there is a lot of waiting around during shoot and no people to talk to, there are books! So, I finally started with up my favourite, @rakeyshommehra ‘s book – The Stranger In The Mirror. With @officialreetagupta Rang De Basanti was a cult film for my generation. So, the thought of debuting in a film that Rakeysh Sir was going to direct was nothing short of a dream. Through the two years of making Mirziya, I know I developed a lifelong bond with Sir. He’s as good as my family. Even today, five years after my debut, if I want film-related advice or I want home-cooked food or need swimming lessons he remains my go-to person. During the shoot, without even realising what he was doing, Sir would keep showering me with pearls of wisdom. He’d make a casual remark about something, and I’d keep thinking about it even days after had said it. He once told me how the film industry is a very lonely place. And that one must know that the people who praise you to the skies are also the same ones whowill also dump you to the ground. So don’t take any of this too seriously. He’d keep telling me to follow my heart. He’d say that if I stayed true to my craft and kept focusing on getting better, success or failures would become inconsequential. There are many such stories. And I can keep writing about them. I know that Rakeysh Sir made me a stronger and better person. Can’t wait to turn these pages and relive why this man is so special.
