One year after becoming the first sanctioned cannabis athlete in pro sports there is still so much to soak in beating not only my opponent in the ring but out… end prohibition

First off, with a once in a century pandemic in full-effect, it’s needless to say there were many delays. All sports, especially contact sports were postponed indefinitely. It took months crafting a “get back to sports” protocols to allow us to not only make history, but bring back athletics to Canada all together after covid shut everything down. Can’t thank Erik & @risefighting enough for all the hard work, they helped bring back sports for all athletes in Canada as a blueprint to do so safety. The endless bureaucracy was quite the uphill challenge…

Then came the event, and what an event it was! Couldn’t be more proud partnering with Sabah @risefighting to make it all happen. The venue was amazing @songheesevents along with all the great sponsors that not only helped support but took a chance in such uncertain times. They were the true MVPs whom made this dream into a reality – it’s the truest honour to have walked out into battle with them in my corner and events as well.

Lastly. The fight. After 5 years of struggling to have my medicine recognized as such, it’s just surreal to think back after all the ups and downs, the the endless self-doubts if I was was going down the right path… Potentially risking my career for what I believed it. But I’m here to say it totally was. My fight not only unlocked the ability to medicate cannabis as prescribed by my doctor, but also recognized the plant for what it is… medicine. More over, future athletes wouldn’t have to go through the trail and tribulations I went through.
