Rouzbeh Rashidi Instagram – I have just spent a magnificently creative and beautiful week in Pristina, Kosovo, teaching a week-long experimental and personal filmmaking course. I am a self-taught filmmaker and didn’t come from academia myself whatsoever. Still, from 2019 onwards, I realised that (solely based on practical and financial reasons) I wholeheartedly enjoy teaching what I have learned and experienced in filmmaking over the past two decades of non-stop filmmaking. I also discovered that I need to love and understand my students to teach them something purely personal and technical at the same time. Therefore for me is excruciatingly vital to create an intense connection among us. Here in Kosovo, we have managed to create an extraordinary sensory and utterly poetic feature film together in only one week. We even premiered it last night with a fantastic audience to test the limits of our creation. I want to congratulate all of my 13 superb talented students for their incredible films, and I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Last but not least, I thank my dear friends and colleagues Alush and Vigan from Kino Armata (and all the team) for showing me the most profound friendship, professionalism and hospitality possible.
