Humberly Gonzalez Instagram – 📖 I don’t always get the chance to show the pages I come from The cover of my book is often judged before they get to the acknowledgements I hold stories written with tears, Drying up and wrinkling the fragile threads sown into the hard back, The shell, The armour I have built to protect myself But those who give the words a chance learn my tale isn’t a threat Instead it inspires them to open up to pages left unread, It pushes them to share what’s always left unsaid So don’t be bothered by the ones who skim through the isles and overlook you They’re not ready to be present with the truth you hold inside -Don’t you put that on yourself- Because from the moment I was born I had a fire in my belly, and a thirst for art on my tongue My eyes hold centuries of journeys deep within these brown walls Never let anyone tell you who you’re supposed to be In the end… You go to sleep knowing your story should’ve been read before judging the cover that sealed it 📖 . .
