Maria Doyle Kennedy Instagram – Posted @withregram • @hotpatooties (Via @chooselove) This morning, we all woke up to the devastating news of the Putin-led Russian invasion of Ukraine, home to 44 million citizens. Explosions and air raid sirens were heard through the night in many Ukrainian cities after several attacks, there are reports of up to 40 casualties. People are fleeing their homes, roads out of the country are blocked, as people are being forced to make quick decisions in fear of their lives.
This invasion will be the most significant military action in Europe in decades and raises fears of the forced displacement of millions of people. Through our partners and friends in Syria we have seen what Putin is capable of and the impact this has on civilians- families, children. We have seen what happens when the world does not do enough.
We will be working closely with our partners along migration routes and in neighbouring countries to fully understand the context and what we can all do to support.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
