This post took more than a week because of the feeling of helplessness that accompanied the Atlanta shootings last week, where six of the eight people killed were women of Asian descent. The last year has been a painful display of disgusting examples of systemic white supremacy, in a society that fails to guarantee protection for all and to sanction hate and violence spreaders.

All my thoughts and support go to the victims and to people suffering from all forms of cruelty. These aren’t only words, and I commit to follow through with actions to support Asian communities. There are more people with a good heart than there are monsters on earth. We must continue to share love, empathy and solidarity to heal these wounds.

Ce post a pris plus d’une semaine, à cause du sentiment d’impuissance qui a suivi les fusillades d’Atlanta de la semaine dernière, où six des huit victimes abattues étaient de descendance asiatique. L’année passée a contenu plusieurs exemples douloureux et écoeurants de suprématie blanche systémique, dans une société qui échoue à garantir la protection de tous et à sanctionner ceux qui répandent haine et violence.

Toutes mes pensées et mon soutien vont vers les victimes et vers ceux qui souffrent de toute forme de cruauté. Ce ne sont pas que des mots, et je m’engage à ce que ces déclarations soient suivies d’actions concrètes pour soutenir les communautés asiatiques. Il y a plus de gens avec un bon coeur sur Terre que de monstres. Nous devons continuer à partager et répandre amour, compassion, et solidarité pour guérir ces blessures.
