Cary Joji Fukunaga Instagram – Introducing writer/director Rashad Frett, the first recipient of my newly-established grant with @nyutisch.
This grant has been created to support historically underrepresented voices and to promote BIPOC stories in the film industry.
In addition to receiving funding for his film, Frett will serve as a mentor to a high school student from the Tisch Future Artists Program – a FREE high school arts workshop program offered each spring to first years, sophomores, and juniors in the NYC area – and have them observe the filmmaking process beside him.
Being able to give young artists the support I wish I had myself growing up in the East Bay is a priority close to my heart. There is always more work to be done but I hope that this two-pronged program will be one more potential path for the next generation of filmmakers who come from backgrounds who can’t always see a clear way to achieve their dreams | Posted on 26/Oct/2021 19:12:41
