Ryan McCartan Instagram – After ➡️ Before • there is so much to put into words surrounding the opportunity to return to a role I thought I’d never play again after the pandemic permanently shut down Frozen on Broadway, and I will attempt to find those words as I explore my feelings further; but one thing I most certainly have the words for is my respect, admiration and total love for @mckenziekurtz. What I did to get into this show felt superhuman to me. And I’m really proud of myself. After 2 years not doing theater in any capacity, I had about two weeks to prepare to go on the road with the Frozen tour. But McKenzie had ONE DAY. I had a week to relearn the Hans track, much of it being different in this production. McKenzie had the exact same amount of rehearsal time as I did, with probably 5 times more material and blocking to get down, because *spoiler*, Anna is the whole show. If what I had to do this week feels superhuman to me; and it does, then what she has done deserves the highest regard, for its incalculable difficulty and intensity. She never stumbled. She never doubted. She hits every time, in rehearsal and in performance. Theater is incredibly hard, and it’s filled with miraculous people like McKenzie, whose jobs are impossible by most people’s standards (including mine!), but who make it not only seem easy, but seamless. Because I feel such pride in what I have done – a job that is hard, but objectively and considerably easier than the task McKenzie was called to do – then you can only imagine the pride I feel to know, watch, and celebrate this woman’s work. Doodlebop, I am so immeasurably glad it’s us again. To many more open doors 💙 love you! | Posted on 20/Mar/2022 20:59:02
