Brooke Nevin Instagram – So often children in foster care are left feeling unseen, unheard and unimportant. The pandemic has taken a particular toll mentally and emotionally on vulnerable youth in the foster care system due to lengthy suspensions of crucial services like therapy or even the opportunity to visit siblings who may be placed in other homes.
That’s why this holiday season I’m shining a light on ways to uplift, support and raise awareness for children here in L.A. County and across the country who are waiting to find an adoptive family.
I recently had the chance to talk with @abc7veronica @abc7la news about my experience volunteering for The Heart Gallery LA. I’m one of many photographers like longtime volunteer @luwinphoto (thanks for the behind-the-scenes shots!) who endeavor to capture the individuality, spirit and dignity of foster youth – bright, curious and phenomenal climbers of trees like Jaxon – who are so deserving of loving, permanent homes.
To find out more about the journey of these foster kids tune into the upcoming special Finding Family: A Long Road Home on Sat 12/11 @ 10:30pm PST on ABC7 or see the ♥️ Gallery segment on www.ABC7.com/watch
Chances are there’s a Heart Gallery in your city or state. I invite you to check them out as well as @heartgalleryla
And to learn more about Jaxon, you can also find his profile on @raiseachild
