Lisa Wilkinson Instagram – So grateful my beautiful grandfather, William Charles Wilkinson made it back from the horrendous WW1 French battlefields of Villers Bretonneux, when so many did not…and not before surviving yet another battle – the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic – and six months in a Plymouth, UK hospital. But he made it through to marry his sweetheart Elsie, build their family home in Osborne St Wollongong…and despite all that he saw and experienced was, alongside my dad (their only child), the kindest, gentlest man I ever knew. They were a special breed. Lest we forget. #anzacday
