Nakshathra Nagesh Instagram – Undertrials is a tragicomedy about prisoners waiting for justice. In the 1980s 40,000 undertrial prisoners were released due to the efforts of civil society and the legal community. No such movement has been created in recent history. Today the number of undertrial prisoners languishing in prison is staggering. They are subjected to untold brutalities. The worst humiliation they suffer is that they are not even taken to Court. This Play is aimed at re-awakening a society that has shown abject apathy to prisoners. After all a civilization is judged by how it treats those in jail.
