It shows me how much has changed yet some things haven’t… like me fitting into an old outfit – I wore this 16 years ago, during my first trimester while carrying @rockbehl. And here I’m in the same outfit in 2022. Super happy that in this regard not much has changed.

Longlisted for the Women’s Prize 2022 and shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award 2022, The Island of Missing Trees by @shafakelif, revolves around the lives of two star-crossed lovers who met at a taverna set in partitioned Cyprus in the year 1974, and how their relationship undergoes a war that tears them and their countries apart.
An intriguing story narrated partly by a fig tree, Elif’s unique and powerful storytelling style has always touched my heart and I can’t wait to get started on this book.
