I leave Poland with two very different feelings. On the one hand eternally grateful for the hospitality of all the people we have met and for having been able to meet and be part of @humanitycrew . An inspiring, committed and no nonsense, no posturing human team.
Seriously, thank you for letting us join you, for the laughs and for showing us your wonderful work with children and for mental health care.
On the other hand, even though I know I’m going to do my best to come back, it’s inevitable that I don’t feel a bit like an imposter. I have spent a week here seeing children and mothers separated from their families, the result of madness, the lust for power of many Governments and the worst version of the human being, and now I am going back to Spain to continue with my life full of all kinds of privileges. I understand that the honest thing to do is to be grateful for it and live with these contradictions.
Millions of thanks to the real heroes. To all the Ukrainian people that we have been meeting, thanks for your patience and for letting us film. I sincerely hope that you have not felt invaded and that our work during these days will help to give voice to the consequences of this stupid war with your testimonies.
Thank you Jose and Rafa for letting me be part of this beautiful project, it has been a great help to have you as fellow travelers.
Finally, thanks again to all the @humanitycrew team. To María, Essam, Cristina, Maciek, Susana, Roei, Rafa, Jose etc.
You are an example of solidarity and the best version of the human being.
I hope that this damn conflict and all those that, although they are no longer on the news, will end soon. May we, the privileged countries, have the courage to look and reflect. May we be up to the task of beginning to think about how to help them heal the wounds that this war has left and will leave them.
