Happy Birthday…to myself!” 🎂 Yes Happy Belated Birthday Mama. 🎉 I forgot my mom’s birthday this year but to be fair she forgot it too. 😂 Luckily, my sister reminded her which prompted my mom to say, “No one’s every gotten me flowers for my birthday before. I really want a big bouquet….ahhh, sigh.” 🙇🏻‍♀️ So of course I went out and spent more money on 💐🌷🌹🌺🌸🌼🌻 than I ever have in my life. Then while my mom was cooking I hid them behind her in plain sight and walked away not sure what her reaction would be. I happen to walk back in when she noticed them and it was like Christmas. Her eyes lit up. She gasped. She clapped her hands. She danced from side to side. It was really ✨magical✨ For a few moments she seemed really happy and content. 🥰 …And then like a good Asian mom she asked, “How much did you spend on these?!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ Seriously though. I often take me parents’ war surviving hard demeanor for granted and forget there’s little kid joy in all of us for all sorts of different reasons. I never knew how happy I could make my mom with flowers. And I hope I never forget. 🙏🏽❤️ Happyland
