Arunoday Singh Instagram – (5 ft X 3.5 ft- CHARCOAL MIXED MEDIA)
When I was a kid (and still, of course), my favorite artist was @luisroyoofficial . He was a Spanish artist who used to draw book covers, fantasy posters, tarot cards, like Conan, Heavy Metal, etc. Everytime I came across one of his covers/prints, I knew it for his. There was no one else like him.
There was always something broken yet luminous about his work. Beauty in a deeply fallen world. And a beauty that was tough. That could hold its own.
This image was my favorite piece by him. I had a little magazine tear out of this when I was a kid, that obviously didn’t last. I sketched this on my teenage bedroom wall. And that got painted over with time and housework.
So I decided I wanted to take another crack at it and see how much my own I could make it. I’m quite quite proud. A tribute to my favorite piece by one of my all time favorite artists.
