Ashwin Kakumanu Instagram – Here’s my short video on the joys of being able to return to in person education and physical interaction with students and teachers vs the virtual model that became a necessity during the pandemic. The idea of being able to return to a learning environment safely is a superpower and to use that power wisely. This video was shot by @gracian.nalin and the philosophy to the video was to show up to the location, and make do with what we had, adding capes to the subjects to create a surrealism and amplify the theme of superpower. It was shot in @srmuniversityofficial School of Architecture and Design and featured the actual students and Faculty. Thank you to HOD Saravana Raja sir for participating and encouraging the students also to participate in my creative experiment. Thank you @ar_anoopmenon for helping me coordinate and to #SRMIST and the Chancellor for giving location permissions. Ashwin Kakumanu Instagram – Here’s a short video I directed in the #BeSuper series titled ‘Work’ . The idea was about feeling empowered to safely go out to work again. To be able to work and earn a living is our Superpower. We shot this segment on the Adyar bridge which houses fruit and flower markets on the side of the bridge. During lockdowns I saw that these colorful and vibrant shops were shut and thought it would be interesting to shoot something there. I stopped and asked Mrs. Vijayalakshmi if she would indulge me in this little experiment and she kindly obliged. #Covid cases are on the rise again, so you know the drill. Be Responsible, Be Super.
