Michael Bearden Instagram – As the years move on (13 now), the daily details fade. However, I’ll never forget some of the small moments. ⠀ ⠀ After a while, we didn’t even notice the cameras rolling. It was just rehearsals to us. ⠀ ⠀ I do remember this moment. It came from a conversation I had with MJ a few days before. I was telling him how much I enjoyed the song ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ by him and his brothers, and would he consider doing it for the show.⠀ ⠀ He said he liked the song too but, would only do it if he thought it would add “production value” (his favorite saying to me at that time) to the show. ⠀ ⠀ One day, I saw MJ sitting there with Kenny and just started jamming the song. Foot (drums) and Alex (bass) being the brilliant musicians they are, just jumped right in. ⠀ ⠀ MJ sat there bobbing his head and feeling it. After that, we decided to put it in the show. MJ saw the “production value” and that was it! Just like that, In the show it went. ⠀ ⠀ I’ll never forget my time with MJ! It was always the small moments I enjoyed the most! 🙏🏾🕊M~ #michaeljackson #kingofpop 🐐

The Dude! @quincyjones⠀ ⠀ Hailing from the south side of Chicago, (as myself) I grew up watching and listening to everything Q did. I did my best to learn every lesson he was putting down! ⠀ ⠀ It was so important to see someone who looked like me achieving the things I aspired to do. I can honestly say, I would not have had the long amazing career I’ve had, if it were not for the existence of Quincy Jones!⠀ ⠀ Two of my favorite quotes from him are:⠀ “You cannot get an A if you’re afraid of getting an F.” And, “Excellence isn’t an act, it’s a habit!”⠀ ⠀ ⠀ The most impressive thing about Q to me is not all of the countless accolades and awards and trophies he’s amassed over his long and distinguished career. What’s always so impressive to me any time I’m blessed to be around him, is his youthful spirit, joie de vie, and love of humanity! Also, how his family and friends not only love him, but revere him!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ For me, THIS is the true meaning of greatness! Q is indeed one of the greatest to have ever lived!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Enjoy!
