The 2nd amendment was created to ensure the maintenance of armed state militias under federal control, to squash anti-tax rebellions or insurrections. George Washington was the first to call out the militias to stop the peaceful anti-tax protests dubbed Shay’s Rebellion. The original meaning and purpose of the militia acts are the exact opposite of its NRA rebranding. They have nothing to do with individual gun rights.
The founders were far more afraid of anarchy than they ever were a central government. In fact, Fear of rebellion was the major motivation for a constitutional convention in the first place.
A human being who values life would not sacrifice children and innocent people for a false-feeling of unbridled power. That is the definition of being possessed by evil.
My thoughts and prayers are that we find our moral compass, basic human decency.
