As coverage from #Afghanistan fades into the background, another human catastrophe is taking shape as millions of #Afghan families face the risk of starvation. The prices of staple food items like cooking oil and rice have spiked, forcing families to sell their possessions — and their children — to be able to afford food. The @unitednations warned that a million children will die of malnutrition if nothing is done.
#TYTW is partnering with @feedafamilyinkabul to provide desperately-needed food and infant supplies to families at high risk. *Banafsha’s life was turned upside down when the Taliban took control of Kabul, causing her to lose her job as a journalist and forcing her into hiding with her family. Unable to afford basic necessities, Banafsha was only able to feed her malnourished infant sweet tea and bread. Banafsha now has the baby formula, diapers, clean water and food she needs.
The oncoming winter season is fast approaching and #TYTW is working around the clock to provide food to high-risk #AfghanWomen and their families.
