Natalie Gumede Instagram – Qwabe – a Kingdom in the KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where the Qwabe/Gumede tribe originated. I named this poem Qwabe as I thought upon where I had come from in order to feel more grounded in myself, and ultimately to know where I want to go and what I want to be a part of.
It was also to tie in with the IG live I did with @poeticunity, honouring their theme of the week; ‘Black and British.’ What started as a poem explaining myself unfolded into some discovery of self.
