Nicola Correia Damude Instagram – ❤️More Truth time. Measure Your Power, not your dress size. And Power is not just Physical, it is Emotional and Spiritual as well. Covid, my industry and Adulting have taken their toll the last few years. Particularly with the stress of the last 12 months I found myself back down the rabbit hole of disordered eating, body dysmorphia and an overall lack of respect for the incredible instrument that is my body. Long days and nights of counting grams of carbohydrates, looking at numbers on a scale and wondering if after all these years I have a chance to let go of this particular kind of pain. Unfortunately, I know that many of you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’m sad to say I believe that most Women in this culture, and likely in most cultures, are victims of the societal pressure to conform to this insanity. But a beautiful thing happened last week. For the first time since the lockdowns in 2020 I got in a plane and headed to Europe with my Best Girlfriend to explore Germany and Paris, and be together and rest and try and reconnect with ourselves and each other. And an amazing thing happened, I woke up a week into the trip and realized I hadn’t counted a calorie, tracked a step or worried about exercise or how I looked for the entire duration. Turns out, away from home, away from work and the expectations that I and my culture put on me…I’m very happy with myself. I hope I can find a way to integrate this feeling when I step off the plane in Canada. When I go back to day-to-day life and the habits and expectations I let myself get into in my daily routine. I’ll keep you updated on how that goes but for now I’ve been walking around Paris with my Best Girl, feeling my Best Self and Eating and Moving for the Pure Pleasure of it. Let’s try and give ourselves permission whenever we can to remember that we’re perfect just the way we are. It’s a cliché because it’s true. Love you all, love myself, and if you’re not there yet in your journey, I will hold this love in my heart for you until you’re ready for it.
