Justin Baldoni Instagram – I’ve never shared something this personal but I feel it’s important. I get asked about my healing journey all the time and it’s very hard to explain in words. My journey has been extremely private as it’s ongoing and not easy…in fact it’s the opposite of easy.
ONE of the healing modalities Emily and I practice has been somatic energy work with my dear friend @drjohnamaral & his wife Christina. It’s life changing work but it is just that – work. John is a very special soul, he does the work himself, has no ego, I’ve seen him offer his time and energy to people in need over and over again for free. (He works in my energy field + any physical touch is consensual) Again, this is ONE of the ways I have been healing… not the only way, & John is not the only one who does this work. I also do weekly somatic therapy and talk therapy, work with a medical intuitive who I love & have spent years finding modalities & people I trust & feel safe with.
Healing cannot really be explained in a simple way & it looks different for everyone. What I can tell you is that there countless ways to heal & that all of them are painful & none of them are easy. And they shouldn’t be. If it is easy, it will not last. Healing requires you go into your pain, your trauma, & all the darkness that you have kept locked away in the dimly-lit basement of your heart that has been influencing your every thought & action without ever realizing it. It’s also a journey that must be taken alone
We all have trauma & trauma cannot be compared or ranked. There is no quick fix. And it is ALL stored in the body. Healing takes time. And effort. And commitment. A life long commitment. Something we never talk about is this: you will get worse before you get better.
To heal, we must enter and learn how to hold our darkness, to become friends with it… because just on the other end of it is light. On the other end of it is YOU. The only way out is through.
And remember…despite however much darkness you may feel inside you or around you…we are all made of light. `Abdu’l-Bahá once said that there is no such thing as darkness… darkness is merely the absence of light.
You are light. You are enough.
