In a city
Of scavengers,
And birds of prey,
A sparrow came
To sit beside me,
Today.
It didn’t say a word,
Nothing needed
To be said.
My Muse had
Sent the sparrow
In her stead.
It sat for a while
And we listened
To rock and roll.
Then it left me,
An ocean closer,
To being whole.
