I wrote this on the last day of our journey: “Day 99… how can I come down from a lifetime of memories made in the last 3 months? I’ve travelled a quarter million miles, shared moments with characters that only exist in movies, uncontrollably wept, hideously laughed, shattered my dominant hand, became addicted to weed, alcohol, and quick thrills, all while surviving a creative mania that may have yielded my Magnum Opus. I’m not sure I’ll ever ‘come down’ from this. I’m not sure I want to. I’m so tired. Physically and mentally drained. But so FULL. It ended just as quickly as it started, and I’ve had no time to process. Now comes the hard part: how will I break my bad habits, but keep the good ones? Perhaps my therapist can help with this. I’m so happy we documented this journey. There are simply too many memories for the brain alone to remember. I get emotional when I look back at the Polaroids. I get sent back to each moment, vividly. Now, they will live forever. I hope I inspire people to do more. I hope I inspire people to do what they can’t. Life is so VAST. And GRAND. And beautiful. I want to live it all.
