Major updates to Horizon and avatar graphics coming soon. I’ll share more at Connect. Also, I know the photo I posted earlier this week was pretty basic — it was taken very quickly to celebrate a launch. The graphics in Horizon are capable of much more — even on headsets — and Horizon is improving very quickly.
Launching more hands-free features for Ray-Ban Stories today. Now you can make calls, hear message readouts, and send end-to-end encrypted messages with WhatsApp. Soon you’ll also be able to directly reply to Messenger or WhatsApp messages with voice commands.
Met up with legendary astrophysicist @neildegrassetyson in VR to explore the new images from the James Webb Space Telescope. Education in the metaverse is going to be awesome. Full conversation coming to @startalk soon.
Max and I have been watching @emily.the.engineer’s 3D printing videos for a while, and she came over to teach us herself! The first thing Max printed was a flower to give to Priscilla. Then Emily showed Max how to print a lightsaber. Now Max wants to print a superhero suit. I’m going to try to print custom foil wings. Thanks Emily for inspiring kids — and me!

Proud to launch the Kempner Institute for AI research at Harvard and name it after my mom (maiden name) and grandma — with both in Cambridge for the launch!
The Kempner will study the connection between how our brains work and how machine intelligence works. Understanding one better will help us improve the other and heal it when there are issues. This is part of our philanthropic mission to help scientists cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of this century.
Growing up, my parents and grandparents always emphasized the power of the mind. It’s meaningful to be able to recognize them like this, and I’m optimistic the Kempner will unlock important discoveries about how our minds work.
