“Every day, in prisons and jails across the United States, some 80,000 people are held in solitary confinement. A new documentary by @james.burns and @shallknow recreates the experiences of three individuals who spent a combined nine years in isolation, using first-person narration, live-action reënactment sequences, and stop-motion animation to explore the psychological trauma that survivors endure. The short film is not just about the cruelty experienced by its subjects but about the reality that this country creates “safe spaces for pain and punishment and torture to happen,” as one of the narrators puts it—“and we pay for it.” Watch it in full at the link in our bio.” | Posted on 11/Sep/2022 04:40:53
