I loved her character. What i didn’t realize until today, when i was prepping to interview her for Tyler Perry’s movie “A Jazzman’s Blues” is that she is from MY HOMETOWN! Yes I know NYC is a big place…but you have to understand. I’m from probably one of the smallest communities in the entire city. A place tucked away on the beach in Queens, called Far Rockaway. NO ONE goes there unless they have to…and it is a very “challenging” place. Use your imagination. This entire moment you’re watching is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY on so many levels. Based on where we’re from…neither I nor Amirah should be here…on a Red Carpet in Canada, with Oprah and Tyler Perry…and we’re both working…not spectating. I promise you…i let off a few 😭 after this moment. We’re from a small place with not much going on…but here we are…doin big things. My friends….YOU are NOT, your circumstances.
