This photo was taken during the happiest time of my life. Years ago, I ventured off to Khayelitsha, South Africa to volunteer at a day care center for HIV orphans.
Since it was during the writers strike, I had the luxury of TIME for the first time in my life. I had no pressure to return home from agents and managers – Hollywood had all but shut down. It was before social media and one could fall of the grid without a worry in the world. The privacy and solitude was divine. To say it was a life changing experience sounds rather trite. Though it did truly change my life in every way: my view of the world and what it meant to have a purpose.
In the many months I lived there,
I met the most selfless and kind hearted people. I learned about varying cultural myths, and it opened my eyes to a worldwide epidemic of human suffering -particularly involving children. Now let me be clear- I said WORLDWIDE HUMAN SUFFERING. South Africa gave me an education.
South Africa gave me a home, love and the knowledge to grow and become a better human. My time there was a Godsend. Helping children in need is, and will always be, my number one passion in life. The time I spent in South Africa was when everything crystallized and came into focus. My purpose as a human became so clear.
Today ( and everyday), I send love and positive, healing energy to the caregivers and children in Khayelitsha and to all of the people in the neighboring townships. Thank you for embracing me into your community and for showing me what is truly important and meaningful in life. My heart is with you and I can’t wait to come back.

Did you know that #chimpanzees are physically incapable of crying? It’s true. They don’t have any tear ducts. They are also an endangered species – largely due to human interference.
