Princess Eugenie Instagram – The @unitednations second Ocean 🌊 Conference took place last week and I was lucky enough to go to listen and learn about what’s happening across the world, the importance of our healthy oceans and all the things we can do to help it survive and flourish. Sometimes it’s easy to feel helpless so I wanted to share just some of the actions and promises from the conference as examples of how we can work together for a flourishing ocean: – 100+ countries have pledged to 30×30, a campaign to protect 30% of the Worlds Oceans by 2030 – Aruba will expand their marine park to an island-round marine protected area – Australia is committing $1.2 billion to preserving and restoring the Great Barrier Reef. – Belize will protect 30% of their marine area by 2030. – Greece committed to reduce single use plastic beverage and food containers by 60% by 2026; cutting plastic litter in the ocean by 50% by 2030. – Monaco is protecting Mediterranean Monk Seals and their habitats. – The UK has pledged £150m to COAST – @btwaves found the largest sea grass meadow on earth across the Great Bahama Banks thanks to some epic collaborators, tiger sharks! Sea Grass captures a huge amount of carbon we produce. 🐳🐋🌊🎣🐟🐠🐡❤️👏🏻❤️
