Annabelle Wallis Instagram – My talented friend @conradshawcross has produced a new print, Study for the Patterns of Absence; [Ukraine 11], which will be sold during the Royal Academy Summer Show for the benefit of War Child in Ukraine. The print will be available during the Summer Exhibition, from 21 June – 21 August. This is the first time in the history of the Summer Show that a time-based, editioned print has been issued. The work of the charity War Child is particularly close to Conrad’s heart, in 1997, at the age of 18, He travelled to a war-torn Sarajevo to work for the charity, painting murals in music therapy rooms. Seeing the catastrophic effect of war on people, especially children, marked him forever, and Europe faces a similar if not worse crisis now. His hope is that the print can serve as a symbol of protest against what is unfolding, and that the money raised will help War Child to rebuild the lives of children in the region.
