Everytime a casting person tells me to send a photo without any makeup, I get conscious and try to procrastinate as much as possible. Why would we want anyone else to see us as less than perfect? We have to look slimmer, have the perfect skin, have the perfect hair..
And I realised maybe it comes from deep down issue of me not accepting my ownself as I am. But the bigger issue that goes beyond skin deep is that do we also pretend to be someone we are not, to look amiable and nice to be accepted? To be chosen? And if someone accepts us only if we are pretty or nice, is that real?
As I do more and more serious, non glam roles, I am reaching a level of self acceptance to the point of not caring if people see I have dark circles, uneven skin, frizzy hair and slight love handle. Despite my profession, putting it out for the world to see. The real.
