Even as a child I could graft two colours of Roses to create a new variety thanks to my grandfathers teachings and till today I can proudly resuscitate most dying plants. My Nana( maternal grandfather) and I would take long walks in the botanical gardens of Lucknow where he would have endless talks with some of his botanist friends and experienced Maali’s. I would learn so much about all varieties of flowers and fruits. My Nana was a military man but forestry & gardening was his passionate hobby. He took me as a little girl to meet many eminent botanical scientists and their talks over tea and samosas must have somehow lead me to discover my magical green fingers. As a fauji/Army kid my upbringing in Kashmir, Arunachal, Ranikhet ,Assam, Nagaland, Bhutan etc was impacted strongly by the local treasure trove of rugged mountains and their stunning forests & flora which taught me, if one tunes into the magic within the trees they will teach you what is resilience and their energy will open the doorway to find the Universe. My other home country “Austria” where I live now is divinely beautiful as well so as always I would like to share a photo of the places special to me, places where you loose your mind to find your soul.
