This look is so special to me. My twin and I had our femininity policed massively growing up and had all our “girl” toys taken from us along with being told to change the way we talked walked and dressed by our family. After this our Grandma, who used to sneak dolls for us from the charity shop she worked at, let us play with the curtain tassels in her house and pretend that they were our hair. She never questioned our femininity and was one of the first family members who let us know it was ok to be feminine so to turn it around into a look was very emotional for me! This look is a love letter to anyone who had their femininity policed growing up. Even when we were being actively taught to be ashamed of the way we were naturally, it’s small moments like this from childhood that really stick with you. I know it’s silly but wearing curtain tassels on my head again was a very full circle moment! Reclaiming that femininity was so important for me to represent and I’d like to thank our Grandma for letting us be ourselves growing up! (and for also not getting angry at us when we took scissors to her curtain tassels!) 💖💖💖

Major thanks to @themandrakehotel for letting shoot in this beautiful room!

The week from hell: A Rusical, Reading Challenge and I hated the lipsync song with a passion! I thought the universe was honestly trying to snipe me out the competition so I wore my favourite wig I brought that was meant for another runway because I wasn’t about to be eliminated in the bus driver wig I brought for Funny Girl. This hair was inspired by Sharon Tate obviously. On the Runway Ru said I looked more like Sharon Tate than Barbara Streisand which I obviously didn’t even take as a critique! So instead of spending anymore time talking about musicals I decided to do an homage to Sharon Tate for this redemption shoot. My 2 page notes app apology to the musical theatre gays will be coming soon.

hair- me!

Imagine my horror reading the runway themes and seeing neon. Literally can’t think of anything less me, however I actually love this look we came up with. I wanted it to be very Alexa Demie for Balenciaga meets Elesa from Pokemon Black and White 2 and I think we came to a fab mix of references that I’m super happy with and allowed to sneak in my love of video games onto the runway! Thank you to everyone who made this look come together! 💚
