The start of the pandemic, and the sudden loss of work, was first terrifying — then liberating. “I [was finally] having the moment we’re all collectively having: Work does not define my life.” she says. “It really hit me: I’m such a cog. I may be an artist, but I am a workhorse and I’m fucking killing myself.”
