Los Angeles meet your future Congressman in CA-34, DAVID KIM!!
This guy is the real deal. David is a second gen Korean American, an immigration attorney and neighborhood council member running for Congress. His platform is all the good things: Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, universal basic income, community care and resources, ending homeless with affordable housing, AND he’s got comprehensive plans to work toward these goals.
Get to know him better @davidkimforca Los Angelenos, but this goes for everyone: REMEMBER TO REGISTER TO VOTE!! We need to stick together more than ever. Grateful to @bradjenkins and @aapivictoryfund bringing Asian Americans together to mobilize.

@tessparas and I felt all that COMMUNITY POWER Fri night hosting a gathering for Hugo Soto-Martinez for CD-13!! Thanks to all the wonderful people who came!!
In Los Angeles, we have 15 City Councilpeople who make decisions for 4 million of us. Recently the chair of the City Council stepped down for her racist comments against multiple cultural groups of constituents and conspiring to gerrymander districts with other city councilpeople. It is clear our City Council needs new leaders to STOP THIS CORRUPTION funded by our tax dollars. Hugo is exactly the kind of person we need!!
Hugo comes from a community and labor organizing background. He got his start by successfully organizing the workers at a hotel with no union to become unionized and protect themselves from being exploited. He has effective and real solutions for homelessness in the city (60% of homelessness begins when people can’t afford rent in this city), and he doesn’t take outside corporate money like many current city council people now. Imagine a world where our elected officials aren’t trying to line their own pockets but are FROM the community so have the COMMUNITY’s Interests in mind. We can have this world and it will take time but electing Hugo is a great start. I am proud to be backing Hugo and I wish more candidates in office could be like him.
Hollywood, Atwater, Koreatown, Silverlake, and Echo Park, Hugo Soto-Martinez may be on your ballot!! Look for him and vote Hugo before or on Nov 8th!!

These lil sweeties are voting KENNETH MEJIA for City Controller!!
It’s either between the BEST candidate for the job- the LA Times endorsed candidate who is already providing resources and data on his site to Los Angelenos, who is already a Certified Public Accountant, who has repeatedly shown up with community organizers who call out whenever a current public official is trying to get away with something corrupt (and who has two corgis!)…
…or Koretz, who let animal abuse and neglect run rampant under his oversight as chair of the Animal Welfare Committee (actually it was Mejia who stepped in to volunteer to help the dogs and rallied others to do so as well!)
The choice is almost comically clear. Los Angeles, VOTE KENNETH MEJIA for City Controller!! He will make such an impact in the quality of our city. I know this because he already has!

At LA City Hall with @dangervillage to get LA to STOP CRIMINALIZING THE HOMELESS.
41.18 makes it illegal for people to sit, lie down, have personal items, or just exist in certain areas of LA. Now LA City Council wants to expand this ordinance to include 20% of the whole city.
Sad to see LA would even consider being this cruel to their most vulnerable population. It’s so difficult to make rent in this city- many people and families have been forced out of the places they live. Many people living on the streets are abused and harassed by city efforts to sweep them away without providing basic services that are necessary to live and get by.
I heard from many speakers today about their experience with city programs designed to help people in housing- they are undignified (locking people in rooms so they can’t talk to others, not allowing items like safety scissors) and temporary and brutal. It was heartbreaking. These programs are so mismanaged but the city instead wants to fund efforts to arrest people who need help instead?
We have such a long way to come in being a functional city, and making it illegal for people to just exists in certain spaces will not get rid of homelessness. But it will torture our most vulnerable by depriving them of their items, their life-saving medication, and give poor people criminal records which will make it harder for them to get jobs in the future.
We can’t let our city pass this amendment. 41.18 will literally cause people to die. The city votes on it next Tuesday. Follow accounts like @streetwatchla and @peoplescitycouncil to learn more about how to get more informed and take action responsibly.

“One of the most important revolutions for human rights is happening right now under our noses and we have to see it. We have to all stand up in unity against the violations of human rights. We have to stand up together and rise for the women of Iran.”
Please watch and share this video made by a dear friend @pbani , Payam Banifaz. Many people are aware of what’s happening in Iran right now, perhaps many are not. An attack on women and human rights anywhere is an attack on humanity everywhere. I stand with the people of Iran. #mahsaamini
