Quinn Brett Instagram – The circular conundrum of accessibility. When places are not accessible, you don’t see people with disabilities using them. You don’t see us represented, so you presume that those spaces are naturally not desired or used by people with disabilities. Therefore no need to fix them or make them usable, right?

When you actually hang out with a person with a disability —- you gain first hand experience and visual representation of the constant uphill battle for access and community. It’s wild how many of the laws-standards and barriers to access are half-assed, non-existent or not-compliant….

Ramps that are too steep, bathroom stall doors that swing the wrong way meaning I can’t get into the stall or shut the door behind me, the list of circumstances is long.

.
When I am out in the world, and still require assistance it perpetuates the cycle that we always need help, are incapable and wouldn’t be out and about alone/independently.

.
We need to do better. I too want the ability to choose a waffle or cake cone on my own —-🤠 🍦 (@wasatchandy @alltoothbob @jgboyer @brodyleven @meetjoestone @jbasilfoster ).
