Each vertebral section from head to sacrum has different functions, therefore injury to each nerve root at particular sections present differently.
C1 – C4 Eyes, neck and face muscles, diaphragm #c4breathnomore
C5 – C6 Move shoulder, raise arm (deltoid) flex elbow (biceps)
C6 externals rotate the arm (palms up)
C6, C7 Extend elbow and wrist (triceps and wrist extensors) pronate the wrist (palms down)
C7, T1 Flex wrist and supply small hand muscles
T1-T6 Intercostals (muscles between ribs) and trunk muscles above belly button
T7-L1 Abdominal muscles
L1-L4 Flex thigh
L2, L3, L4 adduct thigh (bring legs together), quadriceps
L4, L5, S1 abduct thigh (spread your legs), hamstrings, flex feet (opposite of pushing on gas pedal motion), extend toes
L5, S1, S2 Extend leg at hip (gluts!) Plantar flex foot (gas pedal, tippy toes) and flex toes.
S2-S4 Pudendal nerve (motor to pelvic muscles and sensation to genitals and anus) **At any level loss of bladder and bowel control is possible depending on severity** #yupaffectedmine 🖐🏽
