My name is Stacey Yvonne Abrams and I’m running to be the next governor of the great state of Georgia.
I began this journey in June 2017, when I stood in Chehaw Park in Albany to announce my candidacy for governor. I ran for 16 months. By the end of the campaign, our team had mobilized the most diverse coalition Georgia had ever seen before. Even as the odds mounted against us, and Republicans worked hard to decrease access to voting, we fought to the very end. With hope. With determination.
But I didn’t get the job in 2018.
Losing was tough. I grappled with how to navigate the public loss of that election and show my face again. How to move forward without giving up.
Then I reminded myself of why I ran in the first place: to do the work. To lift up our families. To keep our children safe and expand their access to education. To make sure Georgians could afford quality healthcare regardless of where they live.
So I didn’t quit. I changed my how but never lost what drives me. And I decided to try again because I know Georgia could be extraordinary if we truly invested in our people. I believe in meeting people where they are, not where you want them to be. I believe that if we want people to turn out, we have to show that it is worth the pain of hope.
But it’s not about 2018, 2020, or 2021 anymore. This year, we face a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make unprecedented progress. We look to the future and imagine the incredible, unthinkable story that we can write for ourselves and for our families only if we have a governor who sees all of us. It’s why I know it’s worth it to fight. To try again. To do everything we can to win.
Georgia — so much of our future is on the ballot. I need you to shake off the disappointment of the past and the distrust of unfulfilled promises because I won’t let you down. At my lowest moment, I couldn’t let apathy and cruelty win. And now, we can’t afford to let this chance to shape the future slip away. We deserve better. We can have more. But only if we demand it.
I never stopped fighting for our future, and I never will. So let’s do this together. And, this time, let’s get it done.
Georgia — we are only a few weeks away from a historic date that will change the future of our state. And no, we’re not talking about November 8.
We’re talking about October 17. That’s right. Early voting begins on October 17. And this year, we want YOU to commit to vote early starting the first week of early vote. Here’s why:
1️⃣ Our opponent is the chief architect of modern day voter suppression. His agenda to decrease access to voting has been well documented. He did it throughout his tenure as Secretary of State, and most blazingly during the 2018 election and again with SB 202, which enables racially motivated mass voter challenges in GA.
2️⃣ Early voting is flexible and secure: You are eligible to vote early at any of your county’s early vote locations. And you can verify that your vote is counted!
3️⃣ You can even vote on the weekends. Saturday early voting is available in all counties. Sunday, some counties.
4️⃣ We know there will be a historic turnout this election in Georgia. Vote early to make sure you don’t face any complications on Election Day.
5️⃣ Vote early to protect our right to choose, to fight for common sense gun safety laws, to keep our children safe, and to build #OneGeorgia where everyone can thrive, not just survive.

This year, we face a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make unprecedented progress. We have an opportunity to change what leadership looks like, how we show up for our people and redefining what success is on our terms.
Georgia — let’s get it done.
I was honored to be in the presence of a superwoman @aliciakeys at her World Tour tonight. Thank you for sharing your stage with me and encouraging Georgians to vote this election. ✨🗳 Atlanta, Georgia

Last night in my conversation with the Divine Nine, @doitfortheryan asked what the fundamental difference between me and Brian Kemp was.
My answer? I care.
I want to meet you where you are. Although I remain Me Phi Me (😆), I really enjoyed all the energy, the sisterhood and brotherhood that was on display last night. Thank you to our Divine 9 for your 100+ years of commitment to service.
This campaign is about all of you. Let’s keep our conversation going, and let’s win this November.

It was lovely meeting @mereba and her crew last week. Congrats on your performance at @aliciakeys’ World Tour, and thank you for helping spread the word about voting!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting many Latino business owners and talking with them about how my plans to support small businesses in Georgia will help them and their communities.
As a small business owner, I know that the playing field is not level in Georgia currently — too many minority-owned businesses struggle to access capital. As governor, I will make sure Georgians can start and sustain their own businesses so that their children and families can access new opportunities and thrive.

Like Jalen, many Georgians rely on education to rise above their situation.
Episode 2 of #PassGeorgianstheMic: Watch Jalen’s message on the power of education.
#GeorgiaRemembers when Brian Kemp took away our right to choose with his 6-week abortion ban.
In less than 6 weeks, we have a choice to make — to let Kemp continue his extreme agenda or choose a better future for our families.
Use your voice to choose to protect our rights.
As a small-business owner, I know how hard it is to get started. I also know that sometimes, success happens when someone is there to give you the help you need.
When I visited our Latino small businesses last week, I committed to them that as governor, I will be a partner in their success.
