I have seen first hand how the current contract harms actors and stage managers, ESPECIALLY swings.
FYI: Swings are the cities who cover multiple roles, in case principle actors get sick or hurt, or just need to rest.
We’re asking for:
• Proper coverage for roles, so swings don’t get sick and injured from overwork.
• Proper compensation for swings, when they’re pushed above and beyond what should be asked of an employee.
• A healthy rehearsal week, rather than pushing employees to the breaking point with 6 day work weeks and 12 hour work days.
•Adequate sick leave, and paid time off, so actors can actually live healthy lives, spend time with their families, AND make a living. #worklifebalance
• Safe work places
