Fiann Smithwick Instagram – A couple of beautiful fossils naturally polished by the sea on the Jurassic Coast. These fossils are inside huge boulders that slowly erode over decades on the beach as the waves wash over them. The sand mixed with the water acts like sand paper, abrading and polishing the fossils inside.

The first fossil is an ammonite of the genius Parkinsonia and the second is a belemnite. The natural polishing shows the internal structure of them well.
