After writing daily since Sep that there’ll be a Blue Tsunami on Tues, I’m now hearing from Dem Party insiders who tell me (confidentially) that my belief in our victory is not unfounded but is now looking more & more, well, likely?
A couple of these Dem apparatchiks had their own reasons to share this good news w/ me. One asked if I could stop saying we’re gonna win. “We’re worried if people think we’ve pulled ahead, there’s a chance they’ll say ‘oh good, I don’t need to vote!’”
“That’s old thinking,” I texted back. “The public’s already setting new early-voting records. People—our people—are on fire! Women are fed up & in the middle of a not-so-quiet rampage. They’re gleefully looking forward to extracting the men from Congress who support the medieval practice of forced procreation.”
“True,” he texted back. “Pollsters show abortion as #3 on the list of concerns, but that doesn’t account for the intensity of anger over Roe decision—it’s huge.”
I added: “The anger from young voters is huge too. They know we’ve left them w/ a dying planet. Their only hope for survival is to toss out every last one of the planet killers.“
“Agreed. They’ll also vote in record numbers Tues.”
Another takeaway from these talks was their belief that, in a post-Covid U.S., polling is a “broken science.”
“Don’t dignify polls by referring to them as a science,” I said. “It’s the fraud of propaganda, trying to invent a factual basis for what’s a work of fiction.”
“You’re essentially right,” one admitted. They pointed out that lots of “polls” are actually funded by corporate lobbying groups & others with GOP backing. Often when you hear about the latest “poll,” it’s really an aggregate of many polls & the GOP & business interests add their biased polls in the soup so that the % for their desired candidate rises to the top.
“Look at the small print,“ one said. “Some list a ‘margin of error /- 10 or 12 pts!’”
So it’s true—we’re being played for suckers. The GOP needs us to believe that Mandela Barnes in WI doesn’t stand a chance. They must depress our vote, convince us we’re gonna lose before we even open our ballots…
