Lu Parker Instagram – Two weeks ago today I rode a horse named Root Beer on a beach in Santa Barbara County….
My entire life I’ve had a love affair with horses, getting one of my first beauties in 7th grade. (See bareback pic)
I’m not properly trained but can ride English & Western. I don’t have perfect etiquette but I trust. As teenagers, my brother & I would ride full speed with no care in the world.
Trust is a big component of riding especially when playing polo which I did for a couple of years as well.
The connection between rider & horse is all about listening, watching, feeling & sensing…essentially being in the moment. It’s similar to our daily lives.
I’ve always said, especially when the horse is in a full gallop, I can’t think of anything else except that moment, not the past or the future. It’s a high that is almost irreplaceable.
On this beautiful last weekend of April with a new moon…I ask you to think of one thing that brings you joy and see if you can find time in the near future to experience it once again. 💖
