Pete Whittaker Instagram – There’s been a lot of Peak challenges going down over the last few months.
There hasn’t been much fast challenge action since The Staffordshire Nose record days, so it’s really cool to see people getting stuck in again.
It seemed to start with Wesley Cole and Will Gould climbing Classic Rock in The Peak. Myself and Tom then decided to Tandem ride this round for a YT video, taking a few hours off their time (that video is coming soon).
@mheason and Dylan Heason, then took another hour or so off our time, and i believe @tomnewman88 then smashed round in 3hrs 10 mins?!
Then there was Hard Rock of The Peak. The routes link up perfectly by bike and this makes for a great day. Originally Pete Davis and Tim Marsh had done this in a round trip from Hunters Bar (Sheffield) in 16 hours (back in 2012).
I had the pleasure of doing it both as a solo mission and with @calummuskett a couple of weeks ago.
The solo attempt was only thought up the day before, and at 10pm the evening before starting, I double checked the routes in the guidebook and only then realised there were two girdle traverses to complete 😂
My solo mission ended at Cratcliffe, but myself and Calum finished at High Tor in 8 hrs 44mins (time taken from bottom of first route too top of last).
Looking forward to seeing the next Hard Rock times, I recommend doing that one as a pair. The solo mission was pretty tedious on one route in particular 😅
