In 5 months, this ā€œdeath committeeā€ oversaw the execution of thousands of political prisoners, after having systematically disappeared, detained and tortured them. Five months of death after death. No due process. A political purge. The numbers are said to be around 4000 to 30,000. Prisoners were hung in groups of six, from cranes in half-hour intervals, thrown into mass graves at unknown locations. In response to dissidence, the IR judiciary system often holds kangaroo courts, without lawyers, a jury, or any due process, and they accuse and sentence someone to death in less than 15 minutes. And now, like 1988, history is repeating itself. On November 6th, 227 members of the 290-seat Parliament of Iran called on the judiciary to issue executions for 15,000+ protestors who have recently been arrested. They have already begun handing out death sentences. There is a prepared email draft written by diaspora Iranian lawyers and activists (first posted by @alsoknownas.e) that is ready to be sent to the UN, the White House and new agencies worldwide.
